JRA - 2D Skip 004

I’ve been trying some things on the animation and I came up with two new versions. One of them favors the down position before the jump so it gives more ‘kick’ to the skip. The other one favors the top position.

It’s amazing to see how much the animation changes by tweaking just ONE FRAME.

It’s been interesting to experiment with the animation but personally, I think that the original animation is the best one! I like the one that favors the down position as well but I don’t think that the skip require such a ‘kick’. On the other hand, the animation favoring the top position feels weightless to me and I won’t use it.

Let me know what do you think !!

Original (The best one for me)

Favoring the down Position (Gives nice ‘kick’ but… Do I need that?)

Favoring the top Position (Feels weightless to me)

Awesome stuff man!!
I would say for a cycle I prefer he original version but if it was part of an action the second one fills like he makes a bigger effort to jump which is very cool.
Cant wait for your the enxt one!

I too like the original one! Man, hats off to Jason Ryan, his tutorial are awesome. Good job on following his methods and advice. Though not exactly like what you’re doing, check out what I’ve been doing over at toybunny.com and let me know what you think. There’s so much to keep track of when you’re animating, but if “it” clicks for you then this method is awesome. Good job!

David:
The skip is indeed a cycle and for this reason I’ll go with the first version. The next animation will be a jump instead of a skip so there will be more room to experiment with that extra effort.

Christian:
I love the Jason Ryan method as well. Personally, I prefer to animate first the animations that he suggests and then jump into my personal stuff. By the way, I’ve seen that you’ve been able to attend his webinars. How was it?

Thanks a lot for your comments guys!!
